Plenty of people have read the bible and are still atheists. I have not read that entire waste of shelf space cover to cover myself, but I don't have to. I've read Genesis, and it reads like a fairy tale. I've read Revelation and it resembles either a mad man's ramblings as he's possessed by some drug induced hallucination or the imaginative writings of a gifted story teller. Neither book sounds like it came from something beyond human. I've read other parts as well and I've found the same results.
Jonah living in a big fish...sounds like a fairy tale
Adam being made from the dirt and Eve being made from Adams rib....sounds like a fairy tale
An old man building a giant ship and gathering a pair from every species on the planet including 800 million species of insects and getting them to reproduce...sounds like a fairy tale, a weird and particularly ridiculous fairy tale which has incidentally been PROVEN false by the fact that a worldwide flood a few thousand years ago would have left a mark in the fossil record and there is no such mark. On top of that we have proof of civilizations predating the writing of Genesis which would obviously have been destroyed in the flood and they were not.
A man being born of a virgin, walking on water, curing the sick, healing the blind and coming back from the dead...sounds like a comic book or some sci fi movie.
I'm sorry, but to those of us who were neither indoctrinated into this garbage as children nor lack adequate critical thinking skills, the bible is just too silly to be taken seriously.
